Carolina Complete Dental offers their patients the option of sedation dentistry, which may help with easing dental fears. Sedation dentistry is the practice of using sedation methods to relax and reduce anxiousness; in some cases it can even induce a dream-like state. Carolina Complete dentists and our highly trained staff offer IV (intravenous) sedation to fearful patients where appropriate. This form of sedation is an injection delivered directly into the patient’s bloodstream. IV sedation allows the Carolina Complete Dental team to continually adjust the level of sedation as necessary throughout the dental treatment. It is particularly good for those who suffer from extreme fear and/or need extensive dental work.
It is important to note that patients are generally conscious and awake during these treatments; IV sedation is not the same thing as anesthesia used by doctors performing surgeries.
